Delighted that GreenRiders has won €20,000 prize in our Stories competition

I’m simply delighted with GreenRiders being chosen as the winner of the stories campaign when the competition was stiff with over 70 entries. My fellow judges and I were looking for creativity and innovation and this story had lots of it.

GreenRiders

What makes GreenRiders special for me is makes it possible for people to share transportation with those they trust. What makes the solution so brilliant is it’s free for consumers, it’s social, great for the environment and saves you money! The possibilities for GreenRiders are endless.

Let’s not forget the two runners-up which also won the hearts of the judges. Dutch company Nudge crowd-sources ideas from citizens and then influences local businesses to adopt innovative ideas that result inchanges to product packaging or consumer behaviours. And you know how big I am on the diversity agenda, so I admire Workzmarter in the UK. They support mothers and the disabled to use technology to work part-time for small businesses from home.

This week I feel really proud of the hard work all of my team have put into making this competition a success. They have gone beyond what was expected of them to ensure the judges were armed with all of the information needed to judge the competition fairly. And GreenRiders provides a perfect opportunity for my team to work together to take a local solution and expand into other geographies. GreenRiders are in safe hands with Mari Puoskari, our Finnish Sustainability leader and she is well equipped to leverage the resources around her from across Logica. I’m personally looking forward to getting involved too.

And thank you to my fellow judges for all of their time and for helping us find a worthy winner: Prof. Dr. Dr. Ervin Laszlo, founder and president of the Club of Budapest; Christele DelbeVodafone Head of Sustainability; Professor Mark Maslin, climatologist at University College, London; and Tom Raftery, principal analyst for GreenMonk.

And lastly thank you to all of the entrants for inspiring so many of us with your amazing stories. It’s been brilliant.
